Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of around 15,000 who serve a population of over 1.2 million people.

Our hospitals
Basildon Hospital
Basildon is home to the renowned Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC). With focused recent investment, many facilities have been upgraded with recent additions including a modern new entrance building, specialist equipment and a brand-new imaging department.
Broomfield Hospital
Based in Chelmsford, Broomfield Hospital is home to the internationally renowned St Andrew’s Burns and Plastics centre. Its modern entrance building includes an airy atrium, whose shops, cafes and waiting areas are a central hub for staff and patients, and connect to spacious green courtyards.
Southend University Hospital
Southend University Hospital hosts specialist cancer care for the Trust and benefits from recently refurbished wards for elderly and dementia patients and a newly-expanded radiotherapy department. Works are also underway to expand urgent care, clinical assessment and community diagnostic facilities.
Some services (minor injuries, ophthalmology, blood tests and some maternity services) are provided from other smaller hospital and health centre facilities across the region including Orsett and Braintree.
